About Us

The MVHFA has been in existence since 1914 supporting sportsmen, the natural resources and outdoor recreation in the Tri-state area. It is an Internal Revenue Service 501 c 3 charity, and donations and grants are deductible under the terms of IRC Section 170.

The monthly general membership meeting is held on the first Thursday of each month at the Eagles Club in Quincy. The MVHFA Board of Directors meets on the third Thursday of each month.

The Mississippi Valley Hunters and Fishermen's Association (MVHFA) has been the primary advocate for sportsmen in the Tri-State area for almost 100 years. Located in Quincy, IL. our 1000 members from IL. MO. and IA. are dedicated to serving the area hunters, fishermen, and outdoor enthusiasts, by monitoring legislation and regulations, season dates, political issues, and promoting proper wildlife management in the area.

Some of the work that we do is in the form of financial support to other conservation and outdoor recreation groups such as DUCKS UNLIMITED, NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION, NATIONAL WILD TURKEY FEDERATION, BOY SCOUTS, FISHING FOR FREEDOM, and QUINCY HIGH RIFLE TEAM. We sponsor hunting safety and boating safety classes in the Quincy area every year.

Our members contribute their time and labor to projects such as building wood duck nesting houses, bird houses, work on river clean-up days and assisting on DNR habitat projects, providing emergency feeding for wildlife during severe weather.

We maintain an active role in the legislative process with our area Senators, Representatives and Congressmen. Through our affiliation with the Illinois Federation of Outdoor Recreation (IFOR) we have a lobbyist in Springfield looking out for our members interests. The club has a seat on the board of directors of IFOR. We have had a delegate on each of the Illinois Conservation Congress sessions that have been held.

Meetings are once a month on the first Thursday of each month at the Eagles Club and start at 7 PM.. Each meeting has a guest speaker, updates on current hunting and fishing issues, food, and a 50/50 raffle. Guest speakers range from fishing and hunting tips from area sportsmen, representatives from the IL./MO. DNRs, Corps of Engineers, political office holders and candidates, area law enforcement and others. Memberships in the MVHFA are only $5 per year ($1 per year for under 18) and we encourage you to join us and give us your support.
